Mighty Coconut’s calling card is high-end 3D animation, but some stories require a different visual style to be properly told. “The Mighty Coconuts” is an original web series produced specifically to develop a method and a pipeline to use our 3D animation tools and techniques to create decidedly 2D content. Much of the charm of this new aesthetic is the result of hand painted textures and backgrounds. We turn to this technique, referred to as 2.5D animation, for projects looking for a more traditional “cartoon” feel.
