A message from Walkabout Mini Golf™ creator Lucas Martell on what’s coming next!
Hey everyone, as you’ve likely noticed we’ve had a few pretty high profile announcements lately with Jim Henson's Labyrinth and Myst courses later this year, but we’re overdue for a more general update on where the game is at and where it’s going.
First up is courses! With the licensed courses, our main goal is to make something that fans will love, but is also something that people can enjoy even if they’ve never seen Labyrinth or Myst. We’ve also decided to keep the pricing of those at the same $2.99 and the guest pass option to encourage everyone to try them out. But as fun as those licensed courses are, we’re also still very focused on originals. We've got several more DLC courses coming to you this year including more from the Lost Cities series, launching a new series of DLCs, stand-alone courses, and implementing many of the features you all have been wanting.
Timing-wise we’re still working up to our goal of 1 course per month, but we should hit that this summer and be able to deliver courses regularly without burning out our talented team. In fact we even have 3 courses blocked out that won’t release until 2023, and a good idea of our internal roadmap until 2024. So keep your putters warm because there’s a LOT more mini golf coming.
Also, the next major release won’t actually be a new 18-hole course. Instead we have a brand new main menu with a massive practice green, a new driving range, and a few surprises perfect for hanging out after a match, or waiting for friends to join. That will be an update that's free to all players who own the game, launching on April 21. With the re-imagining of "Welcome Island" we're really saying THANK YOU to our incredible player community as well as sending a message to all who are considering joining us here that they have a place in Walkabout Mini Golf. You all have been so great about helping one another join, learn, connect, and play—and we're doing a lot to try to support that vibe.
And we’ve got a lot more features, platforms, and surprises in the works we’re not quite ready to announce yet, but we’re continuing to expand the game in several directions without changing the core game everyone has fallen in love with.
18 months after we launched Walkabout Mini Golf with just four courses, you all have helped make it a place where hundreds of thousands of people across over 40 countries come together to get a little time for themselves, catch up with people they care about, meet some new people, oh... and to play some mini golf. Thank you once again to everyone for making Walkabout such an amazing experience, and for helping us grow the game into something far bigger than any of us ever dreamed!
Thanks everyone!
