RESOURCES & INFORMATION

*Meta is aware of a headset issue causing games to not start if launched immediately after installation. A fix is coming in an upcoming OS update, but in the meantime, we recommend waiting a few minutes before launching. If Walkabout is already in this state, uninstalling and reinstalling should fix it.*

WELCOME

Welcome, Walkabout Mini Golfers! Our team is thankful to have such a vibrant and involved community of players and we work our hardest to bring the best experience possible to them. Sometimes this experience can be disrupted by bugs or errors with gameplay, which is where this web page comes in. We have resources for troubleshooting, a collection of frequently asked questions with answers, and the basics of how to get started in Walkabout Mini Golf.

CONTACT AND SUPPORT

The quickest way to get support is through our Discord server from our Community Moderator team or, if you're not on Discord, via email. Note that our Community Moderators work on a voluntary basis and that Mighty Coconut is a smaller indie studio. Please treat our team members with respect and be courteous; they will work as quickly as they can to get you back to the green and golfing with friends.

We also recommend asking for help from your fellow golfers! We have a large Discord community that is happy to help, but we also have friendly faces on our Facebook Group page.

FOR OTHER INQUIRIES:

INFORMATION GATHERING FOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT

When emailing or messaging in about a bug you are experiencing, it will help speed up the troubleshooting process if you can provide the following information:

  • The platform and/or headset you are using

    • Example: I am using a Quest 2 headset and launching from the native app.

  • Your Walkabout Mini Golf Player ID

    • The Player ID (which is separate from your profile username) will be an alphanumeric string visible at the bottom of the yellow profile selection panel at the Welcome Island Shack.

  • Images and/or video capture of the specific bug

    • This step is a nice-to-have, but not required, part of the information-gathering process. Sending footage or images of the issue you’re experiencing helps our team have a better understanding of what the bug is, as well as what it could be connected to.

  • Any and all details about the issue you’re experiencing

    • How did you stumble across this bug, and were you able to reproduce it?

    • Were you in a single-player or multiplayer round?

    • What course were you on? Did you only notice it on a single course, or is it affecting the game at large?

    • The more information you provide, the more clarity our team will have to help find a solution!

While none of this information is required up-front to receive technical support, it does greatly speed along the troubleshooting process and makes it easier for our team to help you.

BASE TROUBLESHOOTING & PLAYERTIPS

  • Hey, you’re probably on this web page because you need some kind of support. Don’t worry, we’re prepared for this kind of thing. You can navigate through our frequently asked questions (FAQ) section for more specific troubleshooting, or you can follow this checklist of base-level issues to see if these fix any game problems you may be experiencing.

    • Have you tried exiting the Walkabout Mini Golf game app, closing it out completely, and then re-entering the app after a momentary pause?

    • Have you tried resetting (soft restarting) your headset, and/or completely turning your headset on/off (hard restarting) with the power button on the headset?

    • Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Walkabout Mini Golf?

      • Please note: This will not erase your profile or your game progress. There’s a slim chance that would occur if you spammed uninstalling and reinstalling, but is very unlikely if Cloud Data is enabled.

    • Have you tried resetting your Guardian Boundary?

    • Have you tried checking your mic permissions (Quest)?

      • You can check if the microphone settings for Walkabout Mini Golf are enabled by navigating to the Quest headset Settings > Apps, and then clicking on the Microphone page listed under Permissions. (Permissions will be the first page you automatically land on when navigating to the Apps subfolder.) You should see Walkabout Mini Golf listed as an installed app, and there will be a toggle next to it. Toggle this ON to ensure it functions correctly. Another way to check this setting is to navigate to the Quest headset Settings > Apps > Installed Apps. You should see Walkabout Mini Golf listed as an application. Clicking into this, you should see the first listing of permissions as ‘Microphone’, with a toggle next to it. Toggle this ON to ensure it functions correctly.

      • When first launching Walkabout Mini Golf using Oculus, there will be a pop-up that prompts users to enable microphone settings. This setting must be enabled for the game to function properly on Quest.

    • Have you tried disconnecting the headset’s Wifi network connection, then re-connecting?

      • While a network connection is not needed to play private single player rounds of Walkabout Mini Golf, a network connection is required for multiplayer rounds. Additionally, network connectivity errors can have an effect on the headset and game app’s performance.

If you’ve tried the above solutions to no avail, please email our support team or send a message to our Discord server for further technical support. For other/more information please navigate to our FAQ.

  • The best player tip we can give is to go out there and have fun, preferably with friends and family. However, here are some best practice tidbits and general know-how that will help you play Walkabout Mini Golf.

    • Our game is played with a single controller. For better performance, we recommend you place your unused controller outside of the Guardian Boundary or even consider removing the battery from the unused controller.

    • VR headsets and controllers connect with sensors, which can experience issues if there are flashing lights such as twinkle lights, high-intensity light such as sunlight, or if you are covering parts of your controller outside of the handgrip including the sensor ring on some controllers.

    • If you are playing in a seated position, we recommend that you enable the ‘Lock Ball Position’ setting by navigating to the Walkabout Mini Golf Settings menu, and clicking the Movement tab at the top navbar. You will see the ‘Lock Ball Position’ setting listed alongside a toggle next to it.

For beginners, we recommend reading our Getting Started section for further details. For those wanting insight into raising your WMG skill, we recommend InnerPrincessVR’s Walkabout Mini Golf - 15 Tips to Improve Your Game video or asking for help from friendly faces in our communities.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • The best way to apply to be a Beta tester is to join our Discord server and be an active, visible, and helpful member of the community with respect to our Community Moderators and helping other players. We ask all of our potential testers to apply through the same avenue so they can be vetted.

  • While it is possible to have multiple profiles on a single headset, we do not support single-headset multiplayer at this time.

  • Yes. Our game has a “Guest Pass” mode that allows any player in a multiplayer session (up to 7 guests total) to try a DLC course if the room host owns the DLC.

    • Please note that collecting lost balls or completing the foxhunts is only possible for owners of a DLC.

    • Please note that the guest player must also own the Walkabout Mini Golf base game to play.

  • Yes! We support this feature, which you can make more comfortable with the auto-adjusting length of our putters and by using a stationary boundary for your guardian. We also recommend our ‘Lock Ball Position’ setting for seated players.

  • You can adjust audio settings from our in-game Settings menu. From there, you can navigate to the Audio tab on the navbar. You will see sliding scales for Sound Effects, Music, and Voice Chat. This setting is accessible from both the Welcome Island shack settings menu and the course scorecard settings tab.

    • Please note that some of our audio cannot be adjusted, such as the notification chime in multiplayer rounds. Additionally, special effects sounds will vary in volume across courses.

  • This can occur for several reasons and our team will need further information to help debug. We recommend you go through our base troubleshooting guide, and either create a support ticket on our Discord community for further support or email our support email.

  • This is generally due to either the headset or the game launcher being out of date. Please update both to help resolve this.

  • Our game supports cross-play with our other platforms!

  • We do not support cross-buying nor do your DLCs, lost balls, putters, or progress convey from platform to platform.

  • We (Mighty Coconut) do not have the ability to issue refunds, as we do not process player purchases. You will need to contact the platform that you purchased the game on to go through their refund process.

  • There are several reasons why your headset tracking may be inaccurate. Here are some quick fixes to try to help:

    • Try turning the lights on brighter in your play area. While it is not common, tracking has been known to be disrupted by things like Christmas lights, fairy lights, etc.

    • Try playing on top of some kind of rug, or create high contrast on the floor to make headset tracking easier.

    • Ensure that the tracking camera lenses on your headset are not obstructed by hair or other objects and that the tracking sensor lenses are clean.

  • There are several reasons this could be happening. Here are some quick fixes to try and help:

Users are able to adjust the settings of their putter strength and angle, as well as calibrate the club to their specifications. This helps fine-tune the putting experience and can help resolve putting-related issues.

    • Please note: Users cannot calibrate their putters while on a course. This can only be adjusted from the Welcome Island Shack settings menu.

We also recommend the ‘Grip to Putt’ setting, which means that a ball cannot be hit unless the user is pressing the trigger controller button on the hand controller. To enable the ‘Grip to Putt’ setting, players will need to navigate to the Settings menu, where it will be the first listing under the first page of settings (under the Putter navbar tab). Players can also adjust this setting from the course scorecard settings menu.

  • Our scorecard times are in UTC timezone to keep players on a unified time for tournaments, multi-timezone games, etc. The time on your player watch is synced with your local headset timezone and should be accurate. You can see your watch by lifting your putter hand up to view the backside of your wrist, which will also give you a view of your current hole score.

  • “WMG” is short for “Walkabout Mini Golf.” This will only appear on your primary profile, and any other profiles created after will not have that abbreviation.

  • We don’t control that. Download speed relies on several factors including network bandwidth. We recommend cycling through our base troubleshooting guide and performing some troubleshooting with your headset’s wifi connection.

  • The best way to report a bug is by joining our Discord server. We have a channel specifically for bug reports, as well as a way to open support tickets with our Moderator team for more in-depth troubleshooting. You can also email our support team at WMGsupport@mightycoconut.com for general support and information.

  • The best way to give feedback is by joining our Discord server. We have a channel specifically for giving feedback and requests! You can also feel free to email them or suggest them on our social media channels.

  • For any press inquiries, influencer opportunities and more, please contact our press manager for more information.

    Email: david@mightycoconut.com

  • You can message our support team and have them create a new, unlocked account to play with. These new unlocked profiles can have their avatar and username edited to match your original profile. Our support team will require your Player ID in order to create this Unlocked profile. The Player ID (separate from your profile username) will be an alphanumeric string visible on the bottom of the yellow profile selection screen at the Welcome Island shack. Our team will also require proof of purchase– this can be as simple as a screenshot of your store page confirming you own Walkabout Mini Golf (and any additional DLC you purchase).

If you still have questions, our team has answers! Please email our support team or send a message to our Discord community server’s technical support team and we will do our best to find a solution for you.

IN-GAME FEATURES & HELPFUL RESOURCES

  • Our “Welcome Island” starting and meeting area has a practice green, driving range, caves and other areas to explore, and the main feature is our menu in the shack, where you will find DLC courses you own and can buy, your putters and golf balls you have earned or found, settings menu including avatar customizations as well as audio and controller settings, Quick Match 1:1 pairing system and private game rooms where you can create or join a room just by choosing a name. There is also a bulletin area where we promote forthcoming courses, out-of-game content like our soundtracks and Walkabout Talkabout interview series, merchandise, and more!

For new players launching a course for the first time, we have a tutorial setting that is automatically toggled on to guide players through the game’s mechanics. We highly recommend this for first-time players as it walks you through gameplay how-tos in real-time. Users can toggle this on the course scorecard. Additionally, one of our community contributors InnerPrincessVR has compiled several helpful videos, including this Getting Started with Walkabout Mini Golf - The Essentials video that we recommend for those wanting a deeper understanding of how to get started.

  • Lost Balls

At every Easy Course hole you can search and find a series of lost balls. Each lost ball across the game is unique, with over 350 of them to collect across our course catalog. Beyond being able to use any lost ball you find in matches, users who collect 10 lost balls (per course) will get access to the associated Hard course without needing to score below par. Users can pick up a lost ball by being near it and pulling back on the joystick (towards the player) to pull the ball toward the avatar's hand.

InnerPrincessVR has compiled a series of guide videos on our lost balls for those needing a little extra help finding them.

  • Users who score below par or find 10 lost balls on an Easy course will unlock access to the associated Hard course. Our Hard courses, set at nighttime, offer a distinctly more challenging match for players by modifying each hole and sometimes completely redesigning areas of a course. In replacement of the Easy course lost balls, Hard courses offer fox hunts.

  • Walkabout Mini Golf offers Practice Mode across all courses (Easy and Hard). This Practice Mode means users can infinitely replay holes.

  • Foxhunts are riddle-packed treasure hunts designed to tease players’ brains and explore the nighttime Hard courses. Players who complete a foxhunt will be awarded a unique, course-specific putter for their efforts. Foxhunt clues are viewable by lifting your player wristwatch, or by navigating to the scorecard.

InnerPrincessVR has compiled a series of guide videos on our foxhunts for those needing a little extra help solving the clues.

  • God Mode allows users to fly around the course unimpeded. Users can activate God Mode by raising their hand controller and pushing the joystick up toward the sky. This mode can be especially useful for foxhunts and lost ball scavenging, as it allows users to move through objects and floors/walls.

Observer Mode allows users to, well, observe. This mode is only available in private room matches and allows a user to watch the game from above the green. You can enable this mode by navigating to the course scorecard settings menu, then clicking on the final navbar tab labeled ‘Course’. You should see a button labeled Observer Mode.

Please note: If users enable Observer Mode for the private match they will not be able to participate in the game, which includes not being able to search for lost balls or participate in fox hunts. Users will need to exit the match entirely to resume normal play.

  • Walkabout Mini Golf has multiple ways to connect players with one another. Users can enter a Private Room and create custom, private parties of up to 8 players to play solo, or they can be randomly assigned to another player in a 1:1 match by entering our Quick Match system.
